SAGE Center for Sexual Wellness & Aging
The SAGE Center for Sexual Wellness and Aging provides holistic, age-competent sexual wellness education (including wellness education for long-term HIV survivors) targeted to LGBTQ+ elders, with a focus on serving the specific sexual health needs of the underserved communities of transgender elders and elders of color. The Center facilitates accessible programs and educational resources that focus on LGBTQ+ experiences of sex and aging, promoting conversations about health, safety, consent, boundaries, intimacy, and pleasure.
DID YOU KNOW?
Cases of common sexually transmitted infections are increasing three to tenfold among Americans older than 65 and older adults in New York City disproportionately receive a concurrent HIV/AIDS diagnosis. At the same time, studies show that most people over 65 do not speak to their physician about sexual health and that older adults are often an invisible population in STI prevention campaigns.
Who is the Center for Sexual Wellness and Aging for?
- LGBTQ+ elders looking for sexual health resources and sexual wellness focused community programming
- Geriatric care providers who want to better serve the sexual wellness needs of their LGBTQ+ patients
